Magritte's Son of Man

Via: Reddit

The costume portrays an image from a famous painting called "The Son of Man" by René Magritte, a Belgian surrealist painter. For more detailed info about this painting, click here.

The title of the OP's post alludes to a different painting by the same painter, called "The Treachery of Images". "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" translates to "This is not a pipe", which refers to the fact that a painting of an object does not constitute the object itself. For more info about this painting, click here.

To give a more clear explanation of the concept: The OP would be lying if he said "Ceci n'est pas mon costume d'Halloween" (This is not my Halloween costume) to you in person, because then it would indeed be his actual costume in front of you. But it fits nicely with Magritte's original intentions when he says it next to a photo on the Internet, because it isn't his Halloween costume -- it's merely a photo.

Video: DIY Mingun

The mini gun was constructed using a repurposed cordless saw motor and some high intensity LEDs to create a muzzle flash look as the barrels passed in front of the lights. The basic construction is relatively simple- with a standard 1/2 inch copper pipe serving as the main support for lightweight tubes (barrels) that spin and emit light when they pass in front of LEDs. A cheap cordless drill - something from Harbor Freight - is the easiest way to start.

Tattoo: Legend of Zelda

"I got this for my 18th Birthday back in 2009. I had to get it done in 2 parts because my body started going into shock after 2 hours of the first part. This Tattoo is the Hyrulian Crest from The Legend of Zelda. I chose to get this tattoo because all the Zelda games have gotten me past the hardest of times in life. The 3 triangles (or the Triforce) Represent, Power, Wisdom, and Courage. and with that I take my tattoo to heart."

Tattoo: Victorian Death Star

"This was taken couple seconds after it was finished up. This is my first tattoo and I had it done with John L. at Art 4 Art Sake tattoo in Sacramento, Ca. I really like the shop and John was incredible to work with. The tattoo is a simplified version of Dance Gavin Dance’s self-titled cover art. That album has been one of my favorites for about 3 years. This band was one of the ones that brought me into the all the music i listen to now and all the friends i have now. I never get sick of it. John did a really great job of taking a intricate piece and making to fit my needs. Its on the back of my calf and i couldn’t be more please with the placement of it. It took about 3 hours to do. I really enjoy the feeling of being tattooed and hopefully have more to come in the future."
