Zombie Wedding Attack

California photographer Amanda Rynda is a known for capturing the tender moments of that special occasion you want to remember forever. This wedding engagement photoset was for couple, Juliana and Ben. According to an article in The Guardian, "Ben didn't want to lose his sense of manliness in the engagement photos. So they went extreme." And evidently, zombies are as extreme as a wedding can get.

The entire photoset starts off as a sweet portrait of the two lovers in a summer field. The dreamy soft colors of the photos give off a vintage vibe, as though their love has already lasted years. Somewhere through the set, however, something feels off. Juliana and Ben’s guest slowly appears descending from the hill behind them, lurching its way toward their tasty flesh. While the surprise is probably the coolest part, Amanda Rynda snaps a few photos of the couple slaying the zombie in style. Wielding a shovel and knife, both look tough as nails fending the zombie off, making this one of the nicest contrasts of romantic and adventurous in a couple’s photo shoot.

Accessory: R2-D2 Helmet

http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lqdv51fixZ1qbwnuho1_500.jpg

German artist, die-hard Star Wars fan and all-around geek girl Jenny Hill was struck by inspiration to create an R2-D2 cake one night. Unfortunately, not being particularly good in the kitchen, her efforts went astray. Luckily, inspiration stuck twice. If she could make a  R2-D2 into a cake, why not a helmet?

The Rocketeer

Rocketeer by Briar and the Rose
Taken at San Diego Comic Con 2009

I am personally of the opinion that the 1991 Disney movie  The Rocketeer is the single best comic book movie ever made, but I've always thought that it was strange the costume never caught on in the cosplay community.  I mean, the Rocketeer combines a helmet even more iconic than a Star Wars Stormtrooper, a jet pack even more fun to look at than Boba Fett's, and a leather jack that makes punching Nazis in the face look good.  What more could you ask for?!!

Witchblade

Former Game Informer columnist, current Community Manager for the Tomb Raider franchise, and famed cosplayer Meagan Marie (a.k.a. MeaganVanB, Meagan VanBurkleo, VirtualGirl6654) has become internet famous for her amazing costumes. Here is a gallery of what I think is her best costume, Top Cow’s NYPD homicide detective Sara Pezzini, wielder of the Witchblade.

Witchblade is arguably Top Cow’s most popular franchise, enjoying success in the form of comic books, a television series, a manga run, an anime series and maybe even a feature film in the near future. The series follows Sara Pezzini, a NYPD homicide detective who comes into possession of a supernatural, sentient artifact with immense destructive powers. In the series, Sara struggles to master the awesome powers of the Witchblade while maintaining a career and personal life. Not particularly easy. Check out more of Meagan's costumes at Figure.Fm!

Nate writes: "I rarely say this about my photography. I’m proud of these photos. Everything from the cosplayer to how they were shot to the way they were edited. Everything just works."

"I’m still rather dumbfounded over how much exposure these photos are getting. Seriously, I’m extremely humbled by all this."

D.Gray-man

"NO, Stop!" I froze, as i called out to him.
Fear rippled and unwinded before the blade unleashed.
Fearless, electriflying, so raw and free.

The story and Cosplay was loosely based off Episode 2 of the Anime "The Dark Order" where Allen first meets Kanda, with a near miss on his life...

Weatley Puppet

Check out this ridiculously detailed, hand-made model of Wheatley from Portal 2 created by Furin. Clearly this is a hardcore fan. The puppet not only looks as if it were pulled straight from the game, it can actually talk to you with ten pre-programmed quotes. Check out her build blog at Blogspot and a gallery of photos at Deviant Art.
Finally my Wheatley puppet is complete! This is a demonstration of him in action. =3 He has 10 quotes in all. This only shows a few. I'm still getting used to puppeting him, so apologies if his movement seems a little weird.

Check out Meagan Marie's interview with CNN, Meet Megan: Assassin, psychopath, cosplayer. In it, she talks a bit about cosplay culture. "When you put on one of these costumes it is literally instantaneously empowering. It’s such a high."

Meagan Marie also posted a tutorial for her Gears of War cosplay, in case you'd like one of these costumes, too..

While nowhere as good as this awesome “Raise your Glass” lipdub, this SDCC 2011 edition of Lady Gaga’s Born this way was still pretty entertaining.

When I saw these guys at SDCC I flipped out!  They said they made their speeder bikes using PVC pipes and cardboard.  The bike was held in place using a harness attached to their body.  So genius!
