Vehicles: Steampunk Bike

"Florida-based Mace Livingston wrenches on airplanes, and bikes are his passion. Not the sleek, aerodynamic types, though. Mace likes the steampunk, Mad Max vibe. MaceTech Industries’ latest build started out as a 2000 model KTM 640 Adventure, with a water-cooled 625cc single cylinder hidden under acres of plastic. “With that giant coffee-can piston swinging around, the KTM can be a bit teeth-chattering,” says Mace. “Tons of usable torque though, and the bike is very light—despite its looks.”"

In Real Life: Bane

"Bane" Protests in New York City

Community activists United NY staged a costumed demonstration in Manhattan on Thursday to protest against Mitt Romney's economic policies on the final evening of the Republican National Convention. The 13-foot Dark Knight Rises villain was at Bain HQ in Manhattan Thursday with labor rights organization United NY to demonstrate against Mitt Romney's economic policies.

The action made more explicit a connection first observed by conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh: the homophonic relationship between Bain Capital, the private equity firm co-founded by Republican 2012 presidential nominee Mitt Romney, and Bane, the Batman villain of DC Comics and The Dark Knight Rises. While Limbaugh's extremely tenuous connection of the two was designed to criticize a perceived liberal bias in the then-unreleased Christopher Nolan film, United NY paired Bane with Bain specifically to compare the fictional villain to Romney's real-life company, which came under heavy fire this week in Matt Taibbi's new Rolling Stone piece "Greed and Debt: The True Story of Mitt Romney and Bain Capital."

Fashion: Emma Stone in Retro Future

Photographed by Mikael Jansson

There’s a kind of future timeline that could only exist if pop-culture never progressed past neon colored-TV screens, weapons-grade synthesizers, and leather everything; where the 80’s were extrapolated forever. This is the foggiest bad-neighborhood night club extended to every corner of Earth, where the colors are so saturated you can only gaze upon them with sunglasses on (even at night!). However, any apocalyptic timeline, be it zombie or 80’s world, is made bearable with Emma Stone, who somehow manages to jump dimensions and continue to look damn good doing it.

My Barbarian from Diablo III, based on the artwork of Wei Wang

As always you'll find the full story behind this costume and every progress step on my facebook progress page and my costume blog. I finished the costume just a few days ago and so I am very glad that I had the change to get such a nice photoshoot in such a short time with it. This time a professional photographer, BilderHaus, was in charge for the photos. It was pretty important for me to create the dark and threatening atmosphere which you can find in Diablo III. And so I just love the illusion that the team of BilderHaus created in this photoshoot."

"The suit was commissioned from hmwsgx in 2011. It debuted [giggity] at the Bioware Costume Contest during SDCC ‘11, where it won the N7 Award. It was worn briefly at SDCC ‘12 and will be retired after D*Con ‘12.

Since early 2012, minor adjustments have been made to pull the suit tighter in certain areas, and all photos were shot and edited by myself and/or Boris-The-Animal. The only site currently hosting them is deviantArt (under ThresherMaw). If you happen to see any distributed elsewhere without credit or watermarks, please please let me know!"

Paine (from Final Fantasy X-2) by chibifiedkitsunes

"This was one of the most Paineful costumes I have ever done.

Every single one of those square bits measure 1.5cm x 1.5cm and have a hole punched into them and has been attached to the capelet using brads.

I started collecting empty cans to cut up late last year, Painestakingly cutting them into strips before trimming them to size. Think there were just over 300 of them altogether?

All the little bits that go on her costume have been resin cast together. That was Paineful too.

Like I said, most Paineful costume ever.
We won best skit for this though! It was hilarious."

Weapons: Spider Splicer Hooks

Available for puchase from The Seventh Courier for US$80

Jace made these replica hooks modeled after the ones used by the Spider Splicer enemies from Bioshock.  They’re perfect for fans trying to cosplay or for someone looking for a unique replica from their favorite video game.

The replicas are made from wood and imitation leather and painted to create the weathered and rusty look.  They are handmade to size when you order so they’re custom too which makes them even more awesome.
