Fashion: Victorian Hogwarts Uniforms

"Tiffany and I decided to make Victorian Hogwarts school outfits. I found the pattern I wanted and we made them in a week. There was a crazy dye adventure, but everything worked out in the end. I am the Slytherin, Tiff is the Gryffindor. We are hoping to get a Ravenclaw and a Hufflepuff to join us, and at least one boy's outfit. Entire outfit made by wearer (except where I helped on hers :P ) Hats stitched by hand. And my book in a belt is a secret purse for my phone and cards and camera."

Cobra Commander

Photographed by Laurie Scavo
"The Commander recently made a trip out to Los Angeles to meet with some development companies on the creation of a Cobra Island theme park.  He claims he’s tired of flying out to Florida for Disneyland and says a theme park really “sells” a country as a legitimate.

There was some time between meetings so he wanted to see the sights.  Unfortunately, we got a little sidetracked and briefly lost.  I didn’t mind very much because I actually haven’t seen much of Los Angeles, and the Commander enjoyed not being in meetings, so all is well that ends well."

Malis Vitterfolk

Malis Vitterfolk Troll Shaman (from World of Warcraft) by MalisVitterfolk
Photographed by Tony Hsu
"This is my troll Malis in the tier 12 shaman set and Sulfuras running around Blizzcon. Man, such an experience to be had!! Malis totally let the fame go to her head and was busy hamming up the camera, kinda hard to believe I'm actually incredibly shy in real life?! Still, it was great to meet everyone there and I was chuffed to bits when I found out I made the secondary costume contest on the Blizz site. It has been a treat reading the comments left on my page and I'm excited that I made the top 10!

I did a small photoshoot of Malis for Fanime while I was around the river park. This is probably one of my favorite shots from the event. Sulfuras is going into retirement after this as he is definitely too fragile for any more cons being made of cardboard."

I enjoy dressing up as much as the next pod, but I especially enjoy checking out people who actually knowing what they’re doing. Melissa’s sci-fantastic build, in her own words:
“The process was a lot of fun and took approximately 3 months of on-and-off planning and building. The assembly is made from over 60 parts designed in Solidworks and sewn/cut/glued/laser-cut/heat-formed using various techniques. The costume includes color changing LEDs on the spine and front that are controlled by an Arduino microcontroller and onboard RGB controllers (respectively), and is powered by 16 AA batteries, 1 LiPo rechargeable battery, two 2032 coin cells, and one 9-volt battery. In total there’s more than 70 LED’s on the entire costume and over 60 parts.”

Cybernetic Demon Warlord

Available for purchase from Etsy. US$1,987
"All made from scratch and given plenty of uniqueness and personality; This beautiful Demonic armor set has a real "wow" factor to really draw some attention, A badass helmet with a STAGE LASER in the eye powered by a small AAA battery pack on the side of the mask and movable jaw to really scare some people.

Chest armor lights, LED lit vials of liquid, and mutated teeth armor all give this costume a ridiculous shock and scare appeal. I wore this to a convention and could not stop getting asked for my picture."
